I was in a wheelchair for 16 years and didn’t want to exercise because it hurt. But I soon realized that as I started my Recovery From Fibro I needed exercise if I was ever going to walk normally again. Dr. Teitelbaum always says “only exercise as you are able”. If we exercise beyond what our body can tolerate then we become sore and don’t want to exercise the next time. Start by walking short distances daily, then work you way up till you are able to walk 10,000 steps a day.
I am now able to walk most any place that I want. Not long ago we took some friends to Zion National Park and Brice Canyon National Park. This was the first time that I had been there, not in a wheelchair. It was amazing to me that I could walk, climb hills and see what I wanted. Yes I did rest coming back and had my friend drive. But it was amazing to be able to get views and pictures from places that I had never been able to see before.
