Any advice for dealing with IBS, spastic colon??? HELP! Thanks a bunch.
ANSWER: I have had these problems myself. I had many swings of loose bowl then constipation that was affected by the narcotic use. I have changed my diet considerably which really helped a lot. I had to give up things like coffee and sugar products. Now after being on my Recover From Fibro for almost a year, these problems seem to be gone. I still watch what I eat and restrict myself on sugar products, but I am able to drink coffee again (in moderation) and as Dr. Teitelbaum suggest, some chocolate is good for a body. We eat mostly fresh fruits and vegetables and live a very healthy lifestyle. Life is so much better now that I have taken these steps. I refer to Dr. T on these questions and his response was as follows.
You need to treat the Candida and cut out sugars. If it persits, then cut out lactose, treat for any parasites, and do an elimination diet looking for food allergies. Also ask your doctor to do a blood test called a anti-transglutaminase IgG and IgA antibody , to rule out Celiac disease (wheat/gluten sensitivity) . See this article for more information about Stomach –Spastic colon.
